Wade Barrett Signs WWE Contract

Wade Barrett has signed a full-time WWE contract, reports Sports Illustrated.

The 40-year-old will now occupy a permanent seat in the NXT announce booth after joining the commentary team for the first time on the black and gold brand’s 26 August show. Barrett hadn’t appeared for WWE since being released from his in-ring contract back in 2016, and had spent the time between his two stints cutting his commentary teeth in promotions like Defiant/WCPW and the NWA.

Wade’s contract is a one-year deal with an undisclosed extension option.

“I hope this lasts for a long time, that’s our intent,” said Barrett. “So there is no bad news to share, but never forget, there is always a little bad news up my sleeve.”

Popular NXT play-by-play announcer Mauro Ranallo left WWE in late August, opting to concentrate on other projects, charitable activities, and the wellbeing of him and his mother instead. Barrett, Beth Phoenix, and Vic Joseph comprise the new announce team.

A natural in the booth and with NXT’s original reality show format giving him his start in WWE in the first place, Wade might be the perfect replacement for Ranallo.
