4 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE Raw (Sep 29)


One day, Raw is going to give us different feuds and fans
will be so freaked out by it, they won’t even care if the show is any good,
they’ll just scream that it’s different, so they’ll praise the living hell
out of it.

Rey Mysterio won’t be feuding with Seth Rollins. Apollo Crews
& Ricochet will move on from the Hurt Business. The Street Profits will
face someone other than Andrade or the Viking Raiders. Something interesting and
meaningful will actually happen.

But for now, we have to continue to endure the old “more of
the same” parade from WWE. Raw was better this week, but that’s not saying
much. It had a good main event and a couple of decent moments, but the recent turn
in the Mysterio/Rollins saga is just mind-numbing and icky at the same time.
Randy Orton’s payback for the legends who attacked him was just dumb, and Mandy
Rose’s hyped debut fell flat.

But perhaps the biggest sin Monday night was the injustice
perpetrated on Aleister Black, as WWE has taken a genuinely unique and awesome
wrestler and turned him into someone completely different, and not in a good
way. It’s a reboot of sorts that just completely undoes two years of a solid
character that really was a tweak or two away from working well as a
