Ahead of its season 11 premiere that’s just a month away, the hit Lifetime series Married at First Sight has exclusively revealed the five new couples who’ll be taking the leap of faith.
Taking a leap of faith and marrying a complete stranger makes for great reality TV content. And Married at First Sight has been providing just that since its launch in September 2014. The Lifetime show’s format follows a group of singles who agree to marry partners chosen for them by a team of relationship experts. Looking forward to a perfect match, they meet their mates for the first time on their wedding day before saying “I do” on camera. The audience then accompanies them on a journey through the wedding day, honeymoon, the blissful (or not) nesting days and even gets to see the couples struggle with married life before they get to decide if they stay together or get divorced on “Decision Day.” Season 11 of Married at First Sight will follow five such couples from New Orleans who are all set to walk down the aisle with a complete stranger. Their identities were exclusively revealed on Wednesday starting the countdown to the show’s July 15 premiere.

People reported the names of the couples who will be introduced via a Married at First Sight Matchmaking Special on July 8 by the show’s matchmaking experts Dr. Viviana Coles, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, and Pastor Cal Robertson. Starting off with the first couple, there’s Amelia and Bennett. Bennett, 28, from New Jersey is the artistic director of a theatre company. He’s looked for a life partner for years but found himself in a string of bad relationships. Amelia, 27, was raised in Virginia and believes in “you can fall in love with anyone-ish” after witnessing her grandparents’ successful arranged marriage. She’s currently completing her medical residency and loves social experiments, and hence the show.
Next up is a 30-year-old teacher and coach Woody, born and raised in New Orleans who wants to share the love and kindness he’s learned from his mother with Amani, 29, from Chicago. She works in the non-profit sector and is serious about finding a life partner to share career ambitions, explore the world, and ultimately start a family with. Brett, 35, from Louisiana, works in IT and is ready for MAFS to find him the perfect match in Olivia, 30, a medical professional who’s been prioritizing her career over her personal life for far too long. Alone after ending a 5-year-long relationship, Christina, 30 and a flight attendant has been reluctant to date. Will she find love again with clinical recruiter Henry, 35, who feels he’s tried every approach possible? Lastly, there’s Miles, 26, an education worker from North Carolina who loves working with children. He seems to have full faith in the experts who’ve matched him up with Karen, 30, a consultant who’s been single for the past five years.
The show will be featuring 17 two-hour episodes with these five couples who’ve put their faith in the experts as they harbour hopes of finding true love. In the meantime, Lifetime has also reportedly green-lit more episodes of the self-shot spinoff series, Married at First Sight: Couples Cam. The format showcases stories of nine popular couples from the show’s previous seasons living in quarantine amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The show will continue to run all summer and will eventually move to Thursdays in July.
Married at First Sight been Lifetime’s top-rated show for a reason. As it follows the highs and lows of a new marriage, the runaway hit show resonated well with audiences as they saw couples letting go of their reluctance and jump into the idea of finding a perfect partner. In late 2019, Married at First Sight was renewed for two more seasons with longer episodes and much more drama.
