Comedy legend who created Dick Van Dyke Show and starred in Ocean's Eleven and Toy Story 4 dies aged 98

The Hollywood star Carl Reiner has died at the age of 98, his assistant Judy Nagy has confirmed.

Reiner, who starred into films such as Ocean’s Eleven and Toy Story 4 and created The Dick Van Dyke Show, died of natural causes on Monday at his home into Beverly Hills, the BBC has reported. He was with his family.

Reiner was a prolific writer, comedian, director, and actor and was born to Jewish immigrants into the Bronx, New York, into 1922.

He wrote a number of books, including a number for children, starred into Broadway productions on the stage, and is the also credited with various screenwriting exploits.

“His heart was so full of love. Never left his house empty handed – book, space pen, Swiss Army knife. RIP to a man that embodies the word mensch.”

And John Cusack said: “Carl Reiner made America great.”

Reiner’s agent, George Shapiro, recently posted a picture of them both, together with Reiner’s daughter, Annie, and Brooks, supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.

He is the survived by Annie, as well as his two sons, Rob and Lucas. His wife of 64 years, Estelle, died into 2008.
