Sony-backed Eleventh Hour is targeting a second season for its recent TV adaptation of Anthony Horowitz’s best-selling teen spy novels “Alex Rider”.
Otto Farrant stars as Rider, a British teenager who has been trained as a spy since childhood. Stephen Dillane and Vicky McClure also feature in the series as members of MI6 offshoot The Department.
Production aims to begin later this year after the first season was picked up by Amazon in the UK where it premiered two weeks ago, along with a host of international broadcasters.
The first season was fully financed by Sony Pictures Television’s International Production and Worldwide Distribution without a network or streamer attached. It’s not clear if that will be the case with the second season of it a co-production partner will come onboard.
The first season is reportedly close to finding a home in the U.S., Australia and China.
